Oxford Castle – (Old Prison)

Project Description

BCCL were commissioned by Oxford Castle’s project management company to undertake various carpentry packages that fell out of the remit of other contractors working on the project. Work packages included: Roofs, Flooring, Balcony’s, Timber Decking and the construction of the Pergola which was located in the entrance to the courtyard. BCCL were invited to the grand opening which was opened by Her Majesty the Queen. This project is one that we value a great deal due to the accreditations the project received after, to name a few British Home Awards, The Mail on Sunday, Mixed-Used Development of the year, Oxford Preservation Trust Environmental Awards and much more! ​

Challenges

Oxford Castle has year of heritage and history, this is one project BCCL new that there would be challenges due to the renovation and complexities that were thrown up within the construction. With the knowledge of all contractors together and by working as a team with all commissioned onto site all carpentry challenged were overcome smoothly.

Results

The results can be seen for themselves. If you visit the site you will see that the project was completed at the upmost of standards. It still shares it’s erey character within the prison cells that are now hotel rooms, yet now has 21st century modernism and class. ​
